Metsblog is reporting that MLB has given the Mets an extra two hours beyond the original deadline of 5pm Friday to negotiate a contract with Johan Santana. Metsblog's Matt Cerrone thinks that since only two additional hours were asked for and granted, the two sides must be really close on a deal.
In my opinion, given the Mets' dire need for an ace and Santana's desire to play in New York, there is no way a deal doesn't get done. Have no fear Mets faithful, Santana will be in Orange and Blue by the time many of you sit down for dinner.
